Sometimes I wonder how I could make it another Valentine's Day without an actual Valentine.

I wanted to share with you all what I've been working with at work - these two songs that we performed this past week for parents and also for the school. I thought they turned out really good! It has been a lot of work to choreograph, teach lyrics, motivate, etc but watching them perform and excel sure is worth it. It's moments like these I remember why I like my job.

This first one is about the four seasons. 

And this one is about the 12 Chinese Zodiacs.

And of course I wouldn't be able to do my job without my awesome coworkers who will humor me in doing an Asian karate chop. BTH

 

goodbye virtual dating world

So...my online ldssingles subscription (the other day I said ldssingles "prescription" ha ha ha, embarrassing...gotta have my online dating drug?) is ending in one month.

It has been largely unfruitful and pretty depressing whenever I get on. And I find myself thinking everyone on there is some creepo...

But I figured I would make the most of my last month online and speed up the process. I decided to add this to the bottom of my "greeting" under my profile:

"Addendum: Listen, my subscription to this biz is running out in one month so let's just cut to the chase. If you're 1. normal 2. righteous, have a testimony 3. outdoorsy and 4. funny, then we might work out. Message me fast before this thang runs out. kthanks."

I was excited to see what would come of this new, frank addition to my profile.

THEN

the ldssingles profile approver peoples decided to delete this from my profile, or not approve the addition. I thought it was a fluke, so I added it again. And again. And got refused two more times.  

I don't get what the big deal is. I don't see how this is any more offensive than 1/2 the things that people put on there. Lezbehonest, here!

Guess my true love will just be surprised when I disappear into the REAL world. 

Goodbye, ldssingles. Forever, if I have my choice. It was real.

sometimes

sometimes life is busy

and hard

and confusing

and you don't understand why things are the way they are

utah's immersion is killer-cray these days. last weekend I planned a getaway with some friends to get up over the inversion. we hiked up Desolation Trail in Millcreek canyon and this is what we beheld at the top. it was breathtaking. i ran down the mountain elated and full of energy for life and all it's beauty.

Sometimes I can't tell.

4 Signs you're old:
1. You hurt your back bustin' your favorite dance move.
2. You wash dishes for fun. (true story!!!) By hand. Barefoot. Uphill both ways.
3. You prefer going to bed at 10 pm.

4. You no longer think you're going to "meet someone" at the gym, grocery store, or library, like you did and planned for when you were 18 (that's so sad).

4 Signs you're not old, and probably never will be:

1. You want to go see a movie in the theater because "everyone" is talking about it ("everyone" referring to all the 2nd graders you teach)

2. Your guilty pleasure is still fruit snacks. And gushers. And you still kind of want Lunchables (they're just SO cute, those little crackers!!)

3. You sleep in until 10:30 practically every day on your Christmas break.

4. Your friend made you dinosaur pajama bottoms as a joke but you actually wear them to bed. And you also wear your hair in a high pony. Still. 

New Years Eve 2013

If you've never had a Hatch family-style New Years eve party, you're really missing out. This was one of my favorite traditions growing up and continues to be my favorite holiday/party. It starts out with the best dinner ever - "personal-pan" pizzas, complete with all the toppings you could ever want. And with all the chips you could possibly eat on the side. And dip too. :) #foodlover

 After this, we usually play a bunch of games or watch a classic movie; this year we just played games because we were all too excited to watch a movie! :) We then ate some brownies & ice cream (are you noticing a junk food/binge trend? haha).

These next few pictures capture perfectly what happens the 30 minutes following the ball dropping in NYC. Chaos ensues, and the shredded newspapers are transformed into weapons of both self-preservation and attack...at the same time, banging pots and pans outside our house to celebrate the new year. It can be a brutal fight to say the least.

 This Hatch's new years eve tradition will never grow old with me - I can't think of any better way to ring in a new year other than personal-pan pizzas, games with friends, and shredded newspaper fights. Loved having these people here and so glad M&D were willing to stay up with me and help throw the party :) Happy New Yr 2014 y'all.
